Getting a sale approved: what Subway asks

1. The franchisor must get your offer to sell the restaurant first and must decline it; the buyer must qualify too.
2. The transfer fee must be paid by you; the purchase agreement also has to meet the franchisor's standards.
3. Before the sale closes, the buyer must successfully complete training, unless the franchisor allows something different.
4. The buyer must be given disclosure and must sign the franchise agreement now in use and the Sublease or Sublicense now in use.
5. Every dollar due on all your restaurants must be paid, and you must not be in default.
6. A general release must be signed by you and the new franchisee.
7. You must make the restaurant fully compliant with the Operations Manual by the time the transfer happens, or earlier.
8. A Transfer Addendum must be signed by both you and the buyer.

Where to find a Subway franchise for sale

Units on the market don't appear in the FDD. Ask Subway's franchise team as well if a nearby owner is selling, because owners list through business brokers and listing sites.

Pricing is up to the seller. Get three years of profit and loss statements, then compare the price with what a new Subway costs to open: $263,000 to $630,000.
