What Planet Fitness asks before giving sale approval

1. The buyer has to satisfy the franchisor's requirements for character, suitability and finances.
2. The franchise application and initial training must be completed by the buyer.
3. The then-current franchise agreement must be signed by the buyer.
4. In some cases, the buyer has to agree to certain updates plus a remodel of the business.
5. All amounts owed must be paid by the seller, who must also provide the material terms of the transfer.
6. A $10,000 transfer fee is due from the seller, unless the transfer involves an ownership interest of 5% or less.
7. The seller has to sign a general release and consent to the confidentiality and non-compete covenants.
8. Any security interest in the business must be subordinated by the seller to the franchisor's right to payment.
